I spent May 2nd-7th in Atlanta at the RT Convention. This was my first year attending, and I had an absolute blast!
I highly recommend this convention, no matter if you’re a reader, blogger, aspiring author, or published author. There are so many great things about this event it’s hard to know where to start.
First off, there are a TON of authors in attendance. Seriously, they are just walking around and want nothing more than to get to know their readers and everyone in attendance. And they are more than willing to sign books and take pictures if they have the time.
Everyone that I came in contact with was more than friendly because we were all there for one reason–we love to read romance. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have many friends who like to read as much as I do (I think they might be crazy), so being surrounded by bookworms was awesome, discovering new books and talking about the ones I already love.
Not only did I get to meet authors I already love, I met new authors I now want to read, bloggers, and readers. The networking is insane. Everyone wants to help you in this industry, and the support is overwhelming. People are willing to give you tips and let you know about products/advertising that has worked for them. I came home with a plethora of information that I can’t wait to implement (including blogging more lol).
And lets be honest, you go to a book convention/conference/signing to get books! There were books galore. They were being handed out left and right (for free!), and there was an abundance of swag. I came home with so many books I don’t know where to put them all.
So if you ever have the opportunity to check it out, I highly recommend it. And I can’t wait to go back again.
